Why doesn’t Toyota make a car that looks like a Lamborghini but gets the fuel economy of a Prius?

by admin on May 15, 2010

There is a Tesla Roadster, (not Toyota) that costs $100,000 that looks cool and doesn’t use gas.

Lamborghinis look cool but are gas guzzlers and costs too much.
Prius pricing is affordable and gets good fuel economy but looks hideous.

You know, I just heard someone with marketing credentials say on the radio that the reason that the Prius is successful is the fact that Toyota made it with a distinct body style, versus the Civic hybrid which is the same body style as the gas powered Civic.

I think in the end, it depends on what the car manufacturer thinks can sell enough to bring a profit. That said, Toyota has not had a sports car model in awhile here in the US. No more MR2 or Celica. I think for as successful as Toyota is, they’ve had challenges in this particular area.

Some people think the Prius is ugly, other think it looks cool.

The reason it looks that way is because it’s the most aerodynamic car on the road right now.

I think the main reason that people buy the Honda Civic hybrid is because it looks like a regular car and they don’t like the look of the Prius, because in almost every aspect, the Prius is a superior car.

Of course, the Prius sells about 5 times more models than the Civic hybrid. So most people clearly don’t think it’s hideous.
