I currently own a Land rover discovery and it plought through any tarrine with ease. I am considering buying a Honda CRV for its fuel economy i do ocassional offroading not the extreme stuff. I am confused if the CRV could be driven on the beach like soft sand, mud and small hills, i just dont like my car getting sutch in sand and i need to be towed out.

you can probably drive it on sand but it is not an off road car really it will have nothing in common with your land rover it is basically a wagon (car) with a basic 4wd system the rover is a truck with a more advanced 4wd system.
The CR-V is not for off roading. Instead, try any Jeep. They can do the job right the first time:
Good Luck.
There are ONLY three real off-road manufacturers out there.
1. Jeep
2. Land Rover
3. Toyota(sadly, not so much anymore)
If you are trying to compare a CR-V to the capabilites of your LRD, you are going to be VERY dissapointed.
Keep the CR-V where it belongs…The mall parking lot. Leave off-roading to vehicles that were designed by people who knew what they were doing when it was designed.
