your duramax from the factory got around 22 mpg. When the mileage gets to 12-15,000, consider that your computers built-in break-in period and your fuel mileage will drop to around 13 and suppose to give you more power. I have only heard complaints of poor fuel mileage, but no one will complain about getting more power. But rule is,more power-more fuel.So when you want a power chip, think, less fuel mileage.

You should get better mileage with a chip. I have a few friends that have a chip in their duramax and their mileage got better by adding it about 2-5 mpg’s But the more you use your right foot the mileage will go down. I have seen these trucks only 13-18 mpg’s driving normal. The newer ones in the new body I hear are getting worse mileage due to the diesel particulate filter.
