I am interested in buying a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. It gets 14 mpg city and 18 mpg highway.
Is there any way to increase the gas mileage of the truck?

If you really need a truck you will have to live with poor mileage.
If you are buying it for other reasons, get over it and buy something economical.
drop the tailgate down and gain about 2%
otherwise, get a subcompact vehicle
