How does ethanol affect fuel economy and engine performance?What is the possible damage to the car?What is the possibility of these damages happening?

I’ve got an 89 ford probe automatic that is currently getting an average of 33mpg, as shown by the electronic fuel indicator, and it’s been confirmed by me through gas receipt and odometer calculations. I have headers, kn panel filter, and have been thorough on the maintenance. Tires are new and properly inflated.

I drive more responsibly than anyone out there. I start out slow at lights, anticipate stops, don’t go over 65mph on the interstate, etc.

So i have all that down, I have excess weight removed from the car, Now i’m just wondering how much further some people take it…..

I could remove all the seats except the driver seat, not have a spare tire in the back, what other ways have you guys increased fuel economy?

*** I don’t use air cond. ever, and i drive with windows up year round to decrease drag from the wind.

The design and power of the t-Rex is wonderful but I don’t know the fuel economy. I have looked everywhere for the answer and all I have left is to ask. If any of you has an answer please help.

I’ve heard accelerating slower, keeping the RPMs low, turning off the A/C, keeping windows rolled up, and many different other things help increase fuel economy. Is this true? And what are some other techniques I can implement to get better gas mileage.

My fiance’ and I will be getting a pop-up (pull-behind) camper after we marry, and we are looking for a good vehicle for pulling it on camping trips. We want a vehicle fully capeable of towing our future pop-up camper that will also – due to climbing gas prices – get the best fuel economy possible.
On Sunday, July 29th, I failed to find a satisfactory answer.

Someone told me there was a year in the 80s when the average fuel economy of all the cars on the road was 30mpg. Is that true? Does anyone know where I can find this information, a chart perhaps? I’d also like to know what the average is this year.

Will driving the same car with the minimal electronics running have better fuel economy than the same car with considerably more lights added, high powered sound system, etc. ?

Or does ethanol mix fuels get you better fuel economy?

I have recently been considering purchasing an ECU chip for my car. However, it would be nice to be able to customize it (switch between a high performance mode and maybe a fuel saving mode.) It would also be nice to be able to see fuel economy data as well as other information about the car. I am wondering if it is possible to use my laptop in this way, after buying special software and an interface cable of course. Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

Will the acetone affect the rubber hoses and other parts (fuel filter, injectors, etc)?

I know Acetone is a strong solvent as well as gasoline, but do these compounds react differently with the parts mentioned above? Does anyone know the downside of using Acetone in gasoline? Is this really a secrete that the oil companies don’t want us to know, or is there unseen problems to vehicle?

Does Pure Acetone cost more than gasoline? It may increase gas mileage, but would cost more to run your vehicle?

Using the Democratic campaign slogan, “more affordable healthcare,” how do we make them that way? In order to combat global warming, I think hybrids have to be more in access with the masses. I think the best solution is market COMPETITION because when Toyota started to build its Prius other car companies followed like Ford with its Escape and Mariner, GM with its Chevy Malibu and Cadillac Escalade, Daimler Chrysler with its Mercedes S-Class and Dodge Durango, and there are countless other companies joining. I think its because customers wanted them to be built and Toyota is approaching #1, or has it? I think tax incentives are better than tax penalties because it gives companies more money to not only increase the fuel economy for each model but can make it more RELIABLE. However, I might be wrong. What do you think? I want some great thought on this. Thank you.

I get 13 miles to the gallon (yea, thats bad, but it’s reality), if I were to be an idiot and drive around in Drive as opposed to Overdrive, how many miles to the gallon would I get? I know it depends on HOW you drive but say I’m driving EXACTLY the same in both. The reason I ask is because I hear Drive has more power than Overdrive and I want to play around a little with it, but if it’s a drastic difference in fuel economy I’m not going to bother.
