FOR MORE ABOUT THE COBALT: www.edmunds.com Fuel economy. It’s on everyone’s mind and the guys at Chevy want you to know it’s on theirs, too. So once you equip the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt LS sedan with a five-speed manual transmission, it becomes the XFE — extra Fuel Economy. The Cobalt XFE is part of gm’s quick response to changing buyer preferences caused by the recent rise in fuel prices, and this same badge is being applied to more models in gm’s lineup like the Pontiac G5 XFE and the yet-to-be-released, Chevy-Aveo-based Pontiac G3 XFE. After all, who can resist extra fuel economy?

i have to disagree with you. i rented this car for a few days and i loved driving this car. i own a TL and a Corolla and i think this car was very responsive and more powered than my 1.8 corolla.
ALMOST being the keyword, but it is and never will be as good
i rented one of these cars last week, and it was a major dissapointment. the interior plastics were very cheap and didn’t fit well. and best of all- this is a fuel efficient economy car, that completely defeats itself! it’s so slow that you end up slamming the gas just to merge, so it only gets about 26 mpg which is worse than my CR-V. not to mention it was terribly slow uphill- it kept shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear
the new cobalt is almost as good as the corolla…
i got a two door xfe about 3 months ago and i like it fun and more power than others in its class dont plan on keeping it may be a year or two so i been kind of bad to it still going good i drive like 80mph all the time and my average mpg is 33
I was going by a ramp for 45ml like indicated and when i got to the union of two ways my car made a turn of 360 swirl at a bridge intersection also it was a raining day lucky enought during the incident i drove to 10 to 12 distance from where i was, thank god nothing happen lik i didnt crash..it appear my bumper agaisnt the upcoming traffic since the day im scared of driving near curves and intersections….
i have chevi cobalt ls
when im in a curve an a swirl 15 ml my bumper goes in one way .
Car reviewers tend to have a lead foot so they generally get much lower observed gas mileage than what you can expect if you drive more carefully.
ya that’s bull. I get 42mpg highway and like 32 city easy. Sounds like a pretty biased review to me. I am pretty impartial, as gas mileage was not the main reason I bought the car in the first place.
if i push it i can get almost 36 mpg off of my 1999 accord coupe. Tops off at about 3,000 RPM at 80. So it is what would be considered as a Big block I4. 2.3 liter Vtec 150+ HP

i have an xfe and do a lot of mixed driving and i average 32 mpg and i averaged around 38-39 on highway
They even said the driver ignored the light. so with a better driver the cobalt will be better
this is cheap ass materials in this car focus is way better
i drive cross country with a cobalt xfe and doing 65 i will average 42 on the highway if i bump that up to 75 ill average 39 and ill rin a quarter mile in 15.8
i have a cobalt xfe and get 42 mpg at 65 mph. and average 29mpg in the city
My lx civic does 0-60 in 8.8 so the cobalt xfe will just barely beat my civic.
how did they only get 25mpg in mixed driving? My auto 2.4 sport cobalt manages 26mpg average….
You get 33mpg CITY?
That’s what they were talking about…city.
This car gets 37 Highway.
i think i’d get a jetta over this, but i’d buy this car still
how did they only get 25 mpg? i’ve been getting 33 mpg in my 01′ cav with 100k miles on it. some bull right there.
its a 04 T__T. at 112k miles it has had aprox 5k in drive train repairs now =/
